Challenges / Opportunity:

  • Insufficient classrooms for the students and the staff. 
  • The existing classrooms are grossly dilapedated. 
  • Many school age children could not attend because of lack of classrooms.

Final Project Deliverables:

  • A block of 4 classrooms, 
  • 300 new student desk
  • renovation of two units of administration offices, 
  • construction of two units of toilet facilities for boys and girls,
  • new borehole, 
  • overhead water tank, and 
  • school supplies.

Project Impact:

  • How many students were impacted? : Three hundred students were directly impacted by this project. Children of school age from approximately 150 household benefitted from this project. The toilet facilities provided will serve approximately 1200 people including the entire student body, the teaching and non-teaching staff. The two units of Administrative building provided directly impacted the teaching staff. Additional school supplies and teaching aids were provided to support effective teaching and easy learning.
  • What is the population of this community? The population is over 550,000.
  • What was the budget for this project? The budget for this project was approximately $60,000. Cost per square footage was $18
  • What other impact for this project to the community? The entire community of over 3 million people will benefit from the borehole and overhead tank provided for the school. The project was also a source of income for the artisans that worked on the construction site and the building merchants that sold construction materials for the projects.
