Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving and unity. This day celebrate the efforts of non-profit organizations and gives people opportunity to come together in the spirit of generosity, to give to the causes and programs they are passionate about. The first Giving Tuesday was held on December 4, 2014. Today, the day continues to be recognized worldwide.
There are several ways to participate in 2020 #GivingTuesday and help #BUILDASCHOOL in the most disadvantaged areas of Africa.
Giving Tuesday recognizes the spirit of generosity that can be found all around us. As a global movement, the event is designed to inspire people and communities to come together at a time of the year when we can collectively reflect on those in need.
While Black Friday and Cyber Monday are recognized as days of spending, Giving Tuesday is an opportunity to donate—your time, your talent or your passion to transform your community.
Giving Tuesday was founded in 2012 by the 92nd Street Y and the United Nations Foundation. It didn’t take long at all for Giving Tuesday to be embraced and gain awareness across social media.
The hashtag #GivingTuesday is part of the official name.
