The very first step towards our selfless cause and programs of focus is our ability to provide education to the marginalized communities and preventing its effects begins with providing Safe Learning Classrooms that set the ground for us to build on all of our other educational initiatives. Most importantly, our programs give you the opportunity to contribute and be a part of the children success stories.
Besides the quality of education, the path to better education for children worldwide is highly dependent on the classroom environment where children learn. When children are provided with an environment where they feel physically, socially, and emotionally comfortable, success comes inevitably.
Our Safe learning building initiatives is centered around four cardinal programs.
New Classroom Building Program
We set forth on our crusade to better the lives of the children by giving them the quality education, which they have the right to access like any other privileged children elsewhere.
To do so, the initial step is to lay the foundation through infrastructure development. We identify schools that lack enough building capacity to accommodate the growing number of children that need learning spaces.
Once identified, we put together a plan to provide build a new school for the affected community. This is exactly what we did at Premier Grammar School where we provided a brand new 16-block classroom to the Abeokuta community at Ogun State in Nigeria.

Classroom Building Rehabilitation Program
We set forth on our crusade to better the children's lives by giving them quality education, which they have the right to access like any other privileged children elsewhere. We rehabilitate potential buildings and turn them into classrooms where the underprivileged children may thrive. The very first step is searching for likely buildings that can be converted into school premises.
When selecting a school, we take into consideration numerous factors such as accessibility and convenience for the students to come to school. Moreover, ensuring that we have a sufficient area to build our school is yet another primary concern. When a location is selected, our experts visit the site to carry out a thorough analysis. A plan is then devised, optimizing the room space to create a safe and healthy learning environment.

Perimeter Safety and School Security Program
Safe learning environments for students also have a lot to do with physical security. The the environment a child is in can impact the child emotionally, and thus, we take all the measures to ensure our students and faculty feel secure within the perimeter. Preventing intruders from entering the premises that we have created as a sanctuary for a safe and healthy learning environment for students is our responsibility; we live up to it to the fullest.
After we have defined the premises of the school, we analyze the building for security needs. Some require taller fences and some require as little as gate security. Depending on where the school is precisely located, we ensure that the school is wholly secured. Sub-Saharan Africa has high rates of education deprivation especially for young girls. Thus, measures must be taken now.
We fail to see that it is often the little factors that contribute to a child's personality altogether. So perimeter safety is more than just the protection of the building against harm. It is the provision of security and carefreeness to children so they may excel freely. After all, it is only in a safe environment that a child feels free to learn and conquer
School Water Program
The scarcity of clean drinking water in Sub-Saharan Africa has become a permanent feature for many of the communities that our projects are established. More than 60% of the population in these communities do not have access to clean water.
As part of our strategy for success, Build-a-School Initiative activated a clean water and sanitation program as a core part of our success strategy. We recognize that many of the school drop out factors are associated with children taking long walks each morning in search of clean water sources for their families. Many of these children who should be in school, have become a source of water capture for their families.
Because only a healthy body has a healthy mind, and thus, we take staunch measures to ensure that students have access to freshwater. This is why we build a stable water source for each of the school buildings that we rehabilitate or build. This ensures that children within each of these school boundaries and their families have access to clean water sources.
School Sanitation & Convenient Amenities Program
Sanitation program is also an integral part of our overall school infrastructure development strategy. It is so unfortunate that many of the schools that we work with do not have a workable convenience facility. Many children are forced to choose going into nearby brushes to answer natures call, further exposing them to health hazards and potential bad experiences that could scar them throughout their lives.
To do end, Build-a-School Initiative have adopted a policy of providing workable sanitary facilities in all our project footprints. This works well in conjunction with our water program. Both programs are almost inseparable because one cannot function according to plans without the other.
All of our projects currently benefit from our sanitation and convenient amenities program. It is not hard to appreciate this initiative because the joy on the faces of the children and the teachers cannot be quantified in terms of their impact.
